Carriages, Ltd./ Bear Valley Stage Lines are currently in their eighteenth
year of operation. Our business is based in the Village of Big Bear Lake,
California, and operates year round (weather permitting). We are available
to travel anywhere in the Los Angeles metropolitan area for weddings or
special events. We are available most weekends for Village tours on the
Concord Stagecoach, on a first come- first served basis, and are available
anytime for reserved rides of one hour or longer.
Our Pride and Joy is a full size Stage Coach, an accurate replica of the timeless Abbott & Downing Concord Coach. This vehicle would be able to seat 15 adults, with seating both inside the vehicle and on top. More info on this vehicle is available here. We currently have three carriages for our guests to choose from. Our largest carriage is a 7 passenger Vis-a-Vis, which is white with a blue velvet interior. Our smallest carriage is a cozy Panel Boot Victorian, which too is white with a blue velvet interior.
Our third carriage is a Landau, painted white, with a burgandy brocade interior. The Landau will seat six comfortably, and has a passenger compartment that can be enclosed for protection against the elements. Our guests have the option of letting down the convertible tops on all of our carriages.
Our beautiful horses are all registered English Shires. The Shire is the largest breed of horse in the world, sometimes reaching 2900 pounds; though our horses weigh little more than half that. The three horses that we have are sisters, and are named Thumbelina, Dianne, and Amy. Thumbelina and Dianne work as a pair as well as single. Amy is now at work in the hitch as well.
Our rates for informal reserved rides are as follows:
Stagecoach or
Hay Wagon $250.00 per hour, Carriage $300.00 per hour, with a 1 hour minimum
charge. Vehicles are based in Big Bear Lake Village. Service to
remote locations will be quoted on a case by case basis.
Our rates for formal events begin at $450 weekdays, and $600 on Saturdays
and during holiday periods. This will allow you up to two hours for your
event, and again, is based in Big Bear Lake Village. Formal service will provide you with one of our
white carriages, immaculately detailed, with all brass polished to high luster. Show harness on English Shire horse(s),
likewise polished out for the occasion. Coachman in formal wear, (coat & tails, top hat, tie and cumberbund). Carriage professionally decorated in
your choice of colors, with a background spray of wisteria, satin or fabric bows and large roses in a contrasting color.
Service involving any wedding, reception, photo session, or parade are considered to be formal events.
